Adventures on the Delaware Bay

Crabbing, Fishing, Sightseeing and More!

TJR Charter & Guide Service is owned and operated by Captain Bruce Smith. TJR stands for Taylor, Joshua, and Robert (Captain Smith's 3 grandchildren, any one of whom may be your 1st mate on your Charter Fishing or Crabbing adventure). Captain Smith is licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard, certified by the Red Cross in first aid, and has Charter Fishing and Crabbing experience. TJR's boat, a 20ft. Robalo center console 2017 with a 150 HP outboard, cushioned seats and emergency toilet. Seats 4 for fishing and up to 6 for crabbing and sight seeing. We're equipped with all necessary safety gear as well as life vests. (Please note: children 12 and under must wear a life vest at all times on or near the water.)

Captain Smith loves to share his passion for the N.J. Bayshore area on his charters, especially with those who are young and/or inexperienced at fishing and crabbing. There is nothing equal to watching a person catch their first fish or the excitement of hand-lining a crab to the net. Make sure you have the cameras ready, as photo-ops will abound on your charter adventure! Experienced clients are always welcome at TJR, too! So if charter fishing, crabbing, sightseeing, or just relaxing by the water and enjoying a cookout by the Delaware Bay is what you're after, TJR Charter & Guide Service is waiting for your call.

WHAT TO EXPECT: The N.J. Bayshore area of the Delaware Bay is a hidden jewel. Low population offers uncrowded conditions, so you can truly enjoy your experience. Our day normally begins with breakfast at a local diner where we get acquainted and discuss our trip, then off to the marina where adventure awaits! Be sure to have cameras prepared as there’s a good chance you’ll be able to observe and photograph deer, wild turkeys, hawks and eagles in their natural environment on the ride to the water. Once aboard, just relax and enjoy the scenery as all equipment, tackle, and bait are already prepared. Upon returning to land, TJR will gladly help clean your catch and pack it in ice for your ride home. For you crab lovers, we will help you to prepare your catch for the pot.

On your Delaware Bay Adventure, feel free to ask Captain Smith questions about the N.J. Bayshore area, the wildlife, the marine life…even the best way to cook your catch. Captain Smith is a people person - he enjoys talking about the area that he has fished and crabbed for 50+ years. Most of all, enjoy your day, experience something new for yourself and/or your children, then make it a tradition. You wouldn’t believe how many adults say to me, "This is great, I did this as a kid!" Well, so did Captain Bruce! And now I want to help you relive the thrill or start your children enjoying our Southern New Jersey hidden treasure, the N.J. Delaware Bayshore.
